I compiled my own from the available source and it seemed to be fine. Could you tell me the procedure for getting this RSA verified (I can do a quick recompilation for the RSA stuff). I do not mind sending the binary to somewhere as a general resource, but I do not want to be considered a maintainer or anything. (Only done stable version compile so far - I have no problems creating the other binaries though.) Only clients from trusted maintainers will be RSA verified usually. So if there is already a blessed version out for an OS, there should not be another available. So the question is now, why does the regular client not work on your machine. You may try and send us a ldd cow-binary to verify the used library versions on your machine. Observers didn't have p_docked or p_planet set to the base docked on or planet orbited. When the army messages were generated, they referenced the wrong planet/player. Fixed this by setting p_docked/p_planet for observers, hopefully this won't trigger any bugs I didn't find. Also fix calculation of army capacity for observers, so the kills of the person being observed are used instead of the observer's kills, which are always zero. **************************************** Index: Vanilla/ntserv/redraw.c diff -u Vanilla/ntserv/redraw.c:1.10 Vanilla/ntserv/redraw.c:1.11 --- Vanilla/ntserv/redraw.c:1.10 Thu May 10 18:19:46 2001 +++ Vanilla/ntserv/redraw.c Tue Feb 5 06:06:40 2002 @@ -217,7 +217,8 @@ /* me->p_flags |= PFCLOAK; */ me->p_dir = pl->p_dir; me->p_tractor = pl->p_tractor; - + me->p_docked = pl->p_docked; + me->p_planet = pl->p_planet; me->p_speed = pl->p_speed; /* me->p_kills = pl->p_kills; Very bad: will confuse enemies */ } @@ -252,7 +253,7 @@ me->p_y = pln->pl_y; } return; - } /* end if I am locked onto a player */ + } /* end if I am locked onto a planet */ /* We are not locked onto anything */ me->p_x = -100000; @@ -406,14 +407,17 @@ } } - if (me->p_ship.s_type == ASSAULT) - troop_capacity = (((me->p_kills * 3) > myship->s_maxarmies) ? - myship->s_maxarmies : (int) (me->p_kills * 3)); - else if (me->p_ship.s_type != STARBASE) - troop_capacity = (((me->p_kills * 2) > myship->s_maxarmies) ? - myship->s_maxarmies : (int) (me->p_kills * 2)); +#ifdef OBSERVERS + /* Use person observed for kills if we are an observer */ + if(Observer && (me->p_flags&PFPLOCK)) pl = &players[me->p_playerl]; else - troop_capacity = me->p_ship.s_maxarmies; +#endif + pl = me; /* Not observer, just use my kills */ + + troop_capacity = pl->p_kills * (myship->s_type == ASSAULT)?3:2; + if (myship->s_type == STARBASE || troop_capacity > myship->s_maxarmies) + troop_capacity = myship->s_maxarmies; + if (me->p_flags & PFBEAMUP) { /* Messages rewritten for stats 10/20/96 [007] */ char *txt; From vanilla-devel at us.netrek.org Tue Feb 5 16:52:58 2002 From: vanilla-devel at us.netrek.org (Vanilla CVS Development) Date: Wed Jan 12 00:51:37 2005 Subject: [Vanilla Devel] CVS update: Vanilla/ntserv Message-ID: <200202052252.g15Mqw905684@swashbuckler.real-time.com> Date: Tuesday February 5, 2002 @ 16:52 Author: xyzzy Update of /home/netrek/cvsroot/Vanilla/ntserv In directory swashbuckler.real-time.com:/var/tmp/cvs-serv5681 Modified Files: daemonII.c interface.c phaser.c redraw.c rsa_key.c wander2.c Log Message: Fix stupid bug from last change. ?: has lower precedence than *, will I never learn? **************************************** Index: Vanilla/ntserv/daemonII.c diff -u Vanilla/ntserv/daemonII.c:1.37 Vanilla/ntserv/daemonII.c:1.38 --- Vanilla/ntserv/daemonII.c:1.37 Mon Jun 4 17:06:28 2001 +++ Vanilla/ntserv/daemonII.c Tue Feb 5 16:52:58 2002 @@ -281,7 +281,7 @@ #define PLFIGHTFUSE 5 #define SIGHTFUSE 5 #define BEAMFUSE 8 /* scott 8/25/90 -- was 10 */ -#define PMOVEFUSE 300 /* planet movement fuse 07/26/95 JRP */ +#define PMOVEFUSE 50 /* planet movement fuse 07/26/95 JRP */ #define QUEUEFUSE 600 /* cleanup every 60 seconds */ #ifdef INL_POP #define PLANETFUSE 400/MAXPLANETS /* INL 3.9 POP */ @@ -1519,8 +1519,8 @@ continue; if (j == owner) continue; - if (j->p_team == owner->p_team) - continue; +/* if (j->p_team == owner->p_team) + continue; */ if (! Yes. The observer doesn't get the p_docked field set to the base the observee is docked on, so the server will probably send a message with player 0's armies/name. I fixed this and it didn't seem to trigger any bugs where the observer would be considered "docked" on the base for fuel use/moving armies/freeing docking ports/etc.. There is another bug in the server's calculation of army carrying capacity. It thinks observers always have 0 kills. So you get a message like "Beaming up: (4/0) ....." and the "No more room" message isn't sent. The obvious fix is to set the kills of an observer to the kills of the person they are observing. But there is a comment in the code, "Very bad: will confuse enemies", that I don't understand. It's too hard to ignore observers in the player list? So I'll probably just fix this by making the army capacity calculation in redraw.c take observers into account. I think I'll also make paradise-2000 put blank space in the player list for observer stats, since they are meaningless. > (I already knew that the code already mishandles beaming up or down from > planets, reporting instead the number of armies on another planet, the > one the observer last locked onto.) This is somewhat harder to fix. The p_planet field needs to be set for observers, but this field has double usage as planet orbited and planet locked, and observers have special meaning for planet locked. I think it might be ok to set this anyway tough, since the planet lock flag won't be set. So maybe it's not really hard at all..
