Update: orion has suffered a catastrophic failure that has corrupted the disks. Attempts to recover the data has failed thus far, but efforts are continuing. In the mean time, a replacement server has been provided by Bob, and backups (albeit old and not complete) have been restored. Setup of this server is underway, and orion services (mainly <a href="http://www.netrek.org">www.netrek.org</a> and one of the metaservers) will be back up as soon as possible.<div>
<br></div><div>Going forward, Bob and I've worked out an arrangement to minimize the risk of this kind of loss in the future. This involves complete replacement of server hardware, taking advantage of ESX and NAS, and improved backup systems. Some of the services on orion will be relocated to other servers.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Thanks for your patience. And special thanks to Bob, Real Time and its staff for their ongoing, generous support in hosting these servers for the Netrek community.</div><div><br></div><div>Dave</div>
