Rosters and players seeking teams should make every effort to join by Sunday, March 11th. Schedules will be completed and mailed by Wed., March 14th, with the opening day being Sunday, March 18th. Again, the primary differences between the two leagues have been discussed previously, but are summarized again below: WNL INL Fixed Schedules Semi-fixed schedules Fixed starting times Varying starting times Penalty for starting late Delaying the game not penalized Continuous scoring Absolute planet count Swiss-style ranking Win-Loss ranking Captains of teams are on Captains can voice input, organization committee but have no power unless they also join the INLC No single head of league One League President Several rule changes have been made since the inaugeral season. These are: 1) Teams will be given 2 weeks to play each game, with the game being autoscheduled for the 1st Sunday or Tuesday of each biweek. Captains are given carte blanche in rescheduling, though Thursday and Saturday will be recommended make-up days. 2) Teams can designate themselves as Eastern, Pacific or European upon signing up. Starting time will depend on what teams designate themselves as (default will be Eastern). Day Eastern Pacific European Sunday 1500 eastern 1530 eastern 1500 eastern Tuesday 2100 eastern 2130 eastern NO GAMES ON TUES. Priority will be European > Pacific > Eastern. 3) 60/20 minute games with 12 army starting will be league accepted official games if both captains agree. 4) Rules for impeaching organizers was added, as well as a rule requiring an organizer to be an active WNL member. 5) Late starting will now be penalized in planet count and not a direct forfiet. The opposing captain must also give a warning to the opposing captain (allowing him to start and avoiding the penalty) that he intends to seek a late start penalty from the WNLC. Note: there was not one occurance of a team seeking a late start forfiet all last season. 6) Forfiets are handled slightly differently inorder to keep the total points a constant through-out the season. 7) Rankings during the season will be determined by iterating the results 25 times, using the final scores as the seed for the subsequent iteration (i.e. negates when you play a team in the season for determining final playoff rankings). 8) There will be no 500 point minimum for a team's point value. 9) The WNLC will schedule play-off games. 10) The continuous scoring changed so that planets are worth only 1 or 2 points/tick (opposed to the 1-4 last season) and the weighing is now exponential (opposed to linear) to make the end game significantly more important this season. Lastly, several issues were voted on but not passed. These were switching off of continuous scoring, allowing <5 roster members to constitute an official game (though this is being re-voted on), and changing to a continuous scoring where 1 planet = 1 point/tick. Attached is a list of the items voted on and the votes of your WNLC representative. The WNL can be reached at http://www.netrek.org/wnl/. We encourage everyone to join and give the league a try. We believe it offers many improvements to league Netrek and is built around the interests of the players and designed to be easily adapted to the desires of the active Netrek community. -WNL committee ************************** VOTES BELOW ****************************** 1) Staring Season 2/1/01: YES - KB, DA, DS, KH NO - KA, RH, JP, HW ABSTAIN - CS, AN 2) New 1.g and 1.h rules (replacing organizers): YES - KB, KA, DA, DS, RH, CS, KH, HW NO - ABSTAIN - JP, AN 3a) Continue using c-scoring: YES -KB, KA, DA, DS, RH, CS, KH NO - HW ABSTAIN - JP, AN 3b) Switch to planet count scoring only: YES - NO - KB, KA, DA, DS, RH, CS, KH ABSTAIN - JP, HW, AN 3c) Switch to alternative scoring system: YES - HW NO - KB, KA, DA, DS, RH, CS, KH, JP ABSTAIN - JP, AN 4) Modifid rule 7.f and 7.g (60 min, 12 army): YES - KB, RH, CS, KH, JP, HW NO - KA, DA ABSTAIN - DS, AN 5) Modified rule 6.e (starting times): YES -KB, KA, DA, DS, RH, CS, KH, HW NO - ABSTAIN - JP, AN 6) Modified rule 6.g (late start penalty): YES - KB, KA, DS, RH, CS, KH, HW NO - JP ABSTAIN - DA, AN 7) Modified rule 10.d-e (forfiet points): YES - KB, KA, DA, DS, RH, CS, KH, HW NO - ABSTAIN - JP, AN 8) Modified rule 5.a (Playing with <5): YES - KB, CS, HW NO - KA, DA, RH, KH, JP ABSTAIN - DS, AN 9) 2 weeks for each game (Sun - Sat): YES - KB, DA, DS, RH, CS, KH, JP, HW NO - ABSTAIN - KA, AN 10) WNLC scheduled play-off games: YES - KB, KA, DA, DS, RH, CS, KH, HW NO - ABSTAIN - JP, AN 11) New rule 10.f (No 500 pt, iterations): YES - KB, KA, DA, DS, RH, CS, KH, HW NO - ABSTAIN - JP, AN 12) exponential weighing: YES - KB, CS, KA, DA, RH, JP NO - ABSTAIN - DS, HW, KH, AN 13) Iterate 25 times during season to determing ranking: YES - KB, DS, KA, DA, HW, RH NO - ABSTAIN - CS, JP, KH, AN 14) c-scoring: planets 1-2 points:* YES - KB, DA, HW, RH NO - KA, JP ABSTAIN - CS, DS, KH, AN 15) c-scoring: planets 1-4 points: YES - KA NO - DA, JP ABSTAIN - KB, CS, DS, HW, RH, KH, AN 16) c-scoring: planets 1 point: YES - JP NO - CS, KA, DA, RH ABSTAIN - KB, DS, HW, KH, AN 17) Official games allowed with maximum 3 WNL-member subs YES - KB, JP NO - CS, DS, KA, DA, RH ABSTAIN - HW, KH, AN *: while this did not get the requisit 6 "YES" votes to pass, it is the current server default and will be maintained since the other cscoring options only got 1 YES vote each. ----------------------------------------------------------- KB: Kevin Bernatz KA: Karthik Arumugham DA: Dave Ahn DS: Dave Swasey RH : Rich Hansen CS: Chuck Scott KH : Ken Hanson JP : Jiteshkumar Patel HW : Heiko Wengler AN : Alex Neilson _______________________________________________ WNL-Captains mailing list WNL-Captains@genocide.netrek.org http://genocide.netrek.org/mailman/listinfo/wnl-captains From andy at synecdoche.net Fri Feb 9 08:00:01 2001 From: andy at synecdoche.net (Andy Mueller) Date: Wed Jan 12 00:36:02 2005 Subject: [Clue Pickup] PU vs. The WORLD! I can deal with lag but lag bursting it's evil. uram@cmu.edu "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have faith." - John 20:29 From ahn at vec.wfubmc.edu Fri Feb 16 11:23:27 2001 From: ahn at vec.wfubmc.edu (Dave Ahn) Date: Wed Jan 12 00:36:03 2005 Subject: [Clue Pickup] Clue game on Monday @ 9PM Message-ID: <20010216122327.A109958@cecum.vec.wfubmc.edu> WHO: Frickin' Leprechauns vs World WHEN: Monday, Feb 19 9:00pm eastern [8:00pm central, 6:00pm pacific, 3:00am CET] WHERE: twink.crackaddict.com -p 4577/5000 [World] twink.crackaddict.com -p 4566/4000 [Frickin' Leprechauns] -- Dave Ahn | ahn@vec.wfubmc.edu | Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced.
